The Kookaburra Commission Project
Each month, I paint 1–2 Kookaburras on a 12 x 16 inch (30 x 40 cm) canvas. A joyful series that celebrates one of Australia’s most iconic and lovable birds and a bird that holds a special place for me and my family.
Every painting will be filled with personality and layers of colour, inspired by my love of seeing these birds in the wild and the sense of connection they bring.
What You’ll Receive
An original, hand-painted Kookaburra on a stretched canvas (12 x 16 inch / 30 x 40 cm)
Signed and varnished, ready to hang or frame
Certificate of authenticity included
Option to add paper prints or limited edition embellished prints later
Optional framing (extra $50 per painting)
Optional Diptych (Pair) - for kindred spirits to share or to display together.

Single $350 + $25 postage Australia wide (or free pickup in Coburg, Victoria)

What It Will Look Like
Each piece will have the same expressive, character-filled style as the one shown here; or
you can send me your own reference photo or let me choose one for you.
We can play around with background colours a little bit but you know, a Kookaburra is a Kookaburra!
Can I Request a Different Bird?
This is a Kookaburra-only project (I just love them too much!), but if you’ve got your heart set on a Kingfisher, I might stretch it - they are pretty similar and I do love them too! If you want to talk other birds then send me an email hello@taracull.com
Why Kookaburras?
They hold a special place in my heart. Seeing them in the wild always makes me smile — they remind me of family, laughter, and connection, and I think we all have a Kookaburra story to tell. This project is also helping me to reconnect with my painting rhythm and stay grounded in what I love most. By joining in, you’ll be helping me keep that creative spark alive.
How It Works
Reserve your spot: Purchase a commission spot by selecting the month.
We chat: I’ll email you to confirm your photo reference or colour ideas.
I start painting: Each painting takes about 3-4 weeks to complete.
Final touches: I’ll send a photo of your finished piece before posting or pickup.
Print Options
Paper Prints
If you want I can organise to get it scanned and include some High-quality pigment ink prints on Hahnemühle Hemp paper which is an eco-friendly, archival fine-art paper that beautifully replicates the texture and depth of the original. This will be extra but we can chat about that!
Shipping & Collection
Each original takes around 3-4 weeks to complete and prepare for pickup or delivery.
Shipping will be $25 or you can arrange to pick up in Coburg, Victoria.
Framing
For an additional $50 you can request a Victorian Ash float frame purchased from Frames Ready Made
